Obituary


Ruth Ann Cederholm, 79, of Franklin, died peacefully after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Benchmark Senior Living at Forge Hill. Ruth Ann was the beloved wife of the late Rt. Rev. Roy F. (Bud) Cederholm Jr. who predeceased her in August of 2023.

Born in Newport, Rhode Island on August 23, 1944, Ruth Ann was the daughter of the late Rev. Walter Lyon and Ruth (Popple) Lyon.

Ruth Ann resided in Franklin for the past two years having previously lived in Needham and Plymouth, Massachusetts from 1989 to 2022. She also spent time in White River Jct., Vermont from 1976 to 1989. She grew up in the Newport, Rhode Island area as well as Randolph, Massachusetts and graduated from Randolph High School.

Ruth Ann was dedicated to her community and nurturing young minds. She worked as a Kindergarten Aide in the Hartford School District in White River Jct./Quechee, VT, served as a Salesclerk at Whittemore's Church Supply Store in Needham, MA, and was a Receptionist at the Board of Selectmen's Office in Needham, MA.

As the wife of a clergyman, Ruth Ann was a devout member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in White River Jct., VT, Christ Church in Needham, MA and Christ Church in Plymouth, MA. She was actively involved in supporting various church events and ministries alongside her husband Bud. She contributed to running thrift stores to help the less fortunate, reflecting her commitment to the church and community.

Ruth Ann cherished her family, loved attending family reunions and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, spending time at the ocean and harbors watching boats, bird watching, holiday decorating, and creating gift baskets for church sales.

Ruth Ann is survived by her sons, Matt Cederholm and his wife Tara of Franklin, and Dan Cederholm and his partner Melissa Allegrini of Salem; grandchildren Noah, Shane, Lauren, Jack, and Tenley Cederholm; siblings Rev. Donald Lyon, Carrie French, Kathy Varnese, and Mary Beth Klunder. She was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Lyon.

A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Church, 1132 Highland Avenue, in Needham.
