Mary C. (Lombardi) Gordon, age 93, of Brockton, died peacefully at her home on August 5, 2024. Mary was the wife for 62 years of the late Ward Gordon, Sr. (Ret. Brockton Deputy Fire Chief). Born in East Bridgewater, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Bruni) Lombardi and was later raised by her mother and stepfather Lawrence Cosgrove. Her granddaughter Angela had lovingly been Mary’s caretaker for the last three weeks.
Mary was a graduate of East Bridgewater High School. A talented cake decorator, she worked for many years in the bakery department of various supermarkets, eventually retiring from Shaw’s.
Mary was a longtime member of the Castle Island Association and Castle Island Historical Society. She especially enjoyed decorating the pirate room for the Castle Island Halloween walk. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and dedicated to helping My Brother’s Keeper with their winter coat drive.
Mary was loving, caring, supportive and dedicated to her family. She loved to travel, especially to Disney, to play bingo and to attend her great grandchildren’s sports games where she would often be heard saying “Keep your eye on the prize.” She was also very patriotic and enjoyed wearing red, white and blue outfits.
Mary was the mother of Ward Gordon, Jr. of Brockton, Paul Gordon of MO, Lisa Gordon of Brockton, Laurie Gordon of Taunton and the late Douglas Gordon. She was the grandmother of Roberto Gonzalez and his wife Meg, Paul Gordon, Jr. and his wife Lauren, Marlaina Gordon, Douglas Gordon, Jr., Angela Breese and her husband Robert and Anthony Ribeiro and great grandmother of Aiden Gordon, Robert Breese, Jr., Tyler Breese, Paul Gordon, III and Micah Gordon. She was the sister of Margaret Standish, Fred Lombardi, Carol Horsman, Dorothy Trosky, Lauren Cote and the late Daniel Lombardi and Adele Jewett. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Monday August 12, from 8:30-10am, followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am. Burial will be held in Melrose Cemetery.
