Arlie Ray Huston

Arlie Ray Huston passed away August 5, 2024.

He was born on February 26, 1935 to parents Olive and Glen Huston, in Anderson, Indiana, where he lived his entire life. He was the youngest of six children, Lester, Delbert, Mary, Lorne, and Donnie, all who predeceased him.

As a youth he spent many hours at Grandview Golf Course. He attended Anderson High School and was a member of the Indiana State Champion golf teams of 1952 and 1953. He married Shirley (Rosaella) Jones in 1954 and they were married 57 years before her death in 2011. They were blessed with four children.

Arlie began his career as an auto mechanic at the young age of 15. He worked 42 years at the same Chrysler Dealership in Indianapolis before retiring at the age of 70. He enjoyed spending time repairing family and friend’s cars. Arlie was known for his dry sense of humor and his witty comments. He loved photography and will be remembered videotaping many family functions. He loved watching sports on T.V., especially the Colts, Pacers, and Big Ten teams. He and Shirley enjoyed traveling after his retirement. In his final years, he loved to sit on his front porch reading his newspaper, visiting with family, friends, and neighbors, going shopping at Walmart, and eating out at the Golden Corral.

Arlie is survived by his two daughters, Winona (Jeff) Powell of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and Sandy Harper (Don Arney, deceased) Poland, Indiana; and son, Herb Huston Mt. Vernon Illinois. A son Bill Glen Huston predeceased him. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Sarah (Powell) Tim Boyce, Katelyn (Powell) Mike Odom, Joe and Ren Powell, Carmen (Huston) Levi Voss, Racheal Powers (Josh Cortecht), Chris Powers, Ben and Hanna Huston, Molly (Huston) AJ Gore, along with Danny Aimen; twelve great- grandchildren, Isabella and Caleb Boyce, Thomas Odom, Wesleigh and Quentin Powell, Audrey and Emma Voss, Savannah (fiancé, Blake Richards), Mia Wampler, Carter and Caisen Crouch and Arthur Huston; also surviving is a special daughter-in-law, Sherry Huston. Arlie was also predeceased by a grandson, Adam Huston (son of Herb and Sherry Huston).

The family wishes to recognize his special angel Carmen Voss, Granddaughter, who helped him at his home for many years. A special thank you to Tarrah Hummel and Naveah for his care in his final days at home. The family would also like to recognize Dr. Lynch-Jackson, Dr. Jetty, staff at Community Hospital, Social Worker Karissa at Edgewater Woods and ViaQuest Hospice Nurse Melissa Philbert.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Corinne Boruff officiating.

Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to Madison County Humane Society.
