David grew up in Quincy and graduated from Quincy High School in 1961. Immediately after graduation, he joined the Marines where he served from 1961-1964 achieving the rank of Corporal. He was extremely proud of his military service and joined the Middleboro VFW Post 2188. One of his greatest joys was participating in the Brockton Seniors Golf Tournament for many years. David was an avid boater and spent many happy hours on the waters of the Caloosahatchee River and the Gulf of Mexico.
He loved traveling and cruising, Among the many ports of call he enjoyed were Alaska, Italy, Greece, England, Ireland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. He was thrilled to have been able to visit London, Rome and Venice but especially the beaches of Normandy and of course, St Andrews Golf Course in Scotland.
