Rita Angers, 94, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024, at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Westborough. She leaves behind two sisters, Gloria Angers of North Grafton, and Cecile Mosher of Rutland, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Adelard and Anne Marie (Bouvier) Angers, and a sister, Jean Gemme.
Born in Worcester, Rita graduated from St. Stephen’s High School in 1948, and later St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She retired from St. Vincent’s Hospital after 40 years as a Registered Nurse in Obstetrics. Her dedication to her profession ran deep, leading her to serve as a nurse in the United States Air Force. She also spent a time as a volunteer in Central America assisting with pre-natal care. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and sang in the church choir for many years.
Rita will be remembered for her kind heart and generous nature. Ever the comic, she loved to make people laugh. Her main focus in life was her family. Rita spent her golden years traveling, taking trips to Florida and Hampton Beach, and going on cruises with her group of nursing friends.
A calling hour will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 35 Hamilton St., Worcester, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, 28 Waterville St., North Grafton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph and St. Stephen’s Parish, 355 Grafton St., Worcester, MA 01604, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 320 Nevada St., Suite 201, Newton, MA 02460.
