Russell J. O’Keefe, Sr., 77, of Worcester died peacefully in his home on July 31, 2024. He is survived by his three sons, William O’Keefe with whom he lived, Russell Jr. and his wife Kerri and Thomas and his wife Cindy; daughter Ginger De Lorge; two sisters Linda and Kathleen O’Keefe, all of Worcester and “adopted children” Matt and Julie Booker of South Carolina. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He is predeceased by his wife of fifty-six years, Mary (Vogel) O’Keefe; daughter, Gale DeLorge; grandson, Roger Bergeron; brother William O’Keefe and sister Ellen O’Keefe Byer. He was born in Worcester, a son of William and Helen (Blanchard) O’Keefe.
Mr. O’Keefe worked at Saint Gobain for over thirty-eight years prior to retiring in 2010. He was a devoted husband, father, gramps and Papa. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Stephen Church. He was a committed New England sports fan who loved to shout cheers and jeers at the television.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Davita Dialysis Center, UMass Memorial-Belmont St., 2 South and the VNA Care and Hospice for the kindness and support during Russell’s illnesses.
Calling hours will be on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St. His funeral with a Mass will be held at 11:30 am, August 9, 2024 in St. Stephen Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will be in Saint John Cemetery, 260 Cambridge St. Memorial contributions may be made to Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St. Worcester MA 01605.
