Richard R. “Rich” Carlise, 84 of Chester, NH passed away Thursday August 1, 2024 quietly at his home. Rich was born January 9, 1940 in Bronx, NY and was a son of the late Adam and Irene (Lempi Elovirta) Carlise. He was raised and educated in Springfield Gardens, Queens, NY. Rich and his family have been residents of Chester since 1972 where he was also a volunteer firefighter with the Chester Fire Department for many years.
Rich was a proud veteran who served 20 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, retiring from active service as a Senior Chief Petty Officer (MKCS) in April of 1981. Rich went to work for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier with the Manchester Center and retired after 21 more years of government service. He was an active member of the Postal Carriers Union and their retirees group. He was an avid fisherman who loved being on the ocean, enjoyed gardening and was a passionate recycler. Rich also loved baseball and was a lifelong fan of the NY Yankees. He loved having conversations with New England fans about his NY Yankees cap. He also enjoyed watching Jeopardy with Pat every night as well as watching Judge Judy every afternoon.
He very much loved his children and grandchildren.
Family members include his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia (Price) Carlise; three sons, Thomas and wife Leiliane Carlise, Robert Carlise, and Adam and wife Christine Carlise; three daughters, Margaret (Maggie) and husband Robert Snow, Elizabeth (Libby) and husband Christopher Brunette, and Anna and husband Joe Szatela; eight grandchildren, James and wife Toni, Linda, Rebecca, Robin, Evelyn (Evie), Melissa (Milly), Thomas (Tommy) and Gabriel.
A wake will be held Thursday August 8th from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH. A funeral service will be celebrated Friday August 9th at 11:00am in the Chester Congregational Baptist Church, 4 Chester Street, Chester. The burial will follow at Great Hill Cemetery in Chester.
