On July 23, 2024, Marcos Mendez entered Heaven at the age of 59.
Marcos was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, where he continued to live with his life companion, Elizabeth, whom he loved dearly. Marcos enjoyed bike riding and nature. He was a lifelong learner, always eager to discover something new, and he thrived on setting and achieving goals. He also enjoyed fixing bikes and automobiles in his spare time. More importantly, Marcos took great pleasure in caring for others. Whether it was his family, friends, or even someone he had just met, he wouldn’t hesitate to help them. He was a selfless and giving person with a huge heart and his family meant the world to him. His charisma was infectious, lighting up every room he entered, and his sense of humor never failed to make us laugh. He will be sorely missed.
Marcos is reunited in Heaven with his parents, Petra and Jesus, his son Michael, and his siblings Sonia, Manny, and Marta, along with many other loved ones who await his homecoming.
Marcos is survived by his beloved children, Jeremy, and Melvin; his cherished grandson, Michael, Jr.; his siblings Jenny (Mark), Augustin, Margarita, Miriam (David), Minerva, Melvin (Jamie), and Magdalena (Bennie). He is also survived by his loving aunt Eloise, many uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of long-time friends.
While Marcos' family grieves his loss, they choose to remember him in a way that honors his spirit – a celebration of life with family and close friends. They invite you to join them at John P. McKeon AmVets - Post 146, 4 Hill Top St, Boston MA 02124, on Saturday, August 17th, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, Inc., a cause that was deeply important to Marcos and one for which he raised funds.
The family kindly requests that guests honor Marcos’ vibrant spirit by wearing colorful attire, other than black.
