Richard A. Hogan, Jr., age 83, a resident of Foxborough since 1968, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. He was the beloved husband of DonnaMarie (Morse) Hogan, to whom he was wed on October 12, 1968.
Born in Boston, MA on February 11, 1941, he was a loving son of the late Richard A., Sr. and Lillian (Arno) Hogan.
Dick grew up in the Meeting House Hill neighborhood of Dorchester and was a 1958 graduate of Boston Technical High School. He attended night courses at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserve.
Richard was employed by the MBTA, a career that spanned twenty-three years and retired with the position of a Resident Engineer. His love for family was unconditional and the joy he received spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events was the essence of his life.
A communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Foxborough, Dick was also a member of the Mansfield Fish and Game. He loved taking trips to socialize with friends at Honey Dew Donuts in Mansfield and was passionate about classic cars and the way he meticulously maintained his home and yard in Foxborough.
In addition to his beloved wife of nearly fifty-six years, he is survived by his devoted children, Christopher S. Hogan and his wife Kate of Norwell, Richard M. Hogan and his wife Hannah of Franklin and Jessica M. Minton and her husband Jim of Mansfield. He was the cherished grandfather of Donovan, Gavin, Drew, Brigid, Declan, Sean and Rory. He was the dear brother of the late John Hogan and Nancy Hutchins and is also survived by his much-loved nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, August 7th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street in Mansfield. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers Richard’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN38105.
