Angelo Tamburello passed away peacefully at home in the company of his loving family on Friday morning, July 26th. He was 96. Born and raised in Campobello Di Mazara, Sicily, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Giacoma (Bono) Tamburello.
Angelo came to the United States in the early 1950’s, first living and working in New Jersey, and then lived in the North End and Somerville, before settling in Medford where he and his late beloved wife Angela raised their five sons. In recent years Angelo resided in Everett. Angelo enjoyed a 37 year career as chef of the famed European Restaurant in Boston’s North End. Possessed of a strong work ethic and a commitment to quality, Angelo delighted patrons with finely prepared meals. Angelo’s tripe was a favorite of diners for decades. Angelo kept a wonderful garden at his home and enjoyed hunting with his family and friends.
The beloved husband of the late Angela (Mistretta) Tamburello who passed away in 2007, he was a devoted father to James Tamburello and his wife Maria, Michael Tamburello and his wife Marie, Victor Tamburello and his wife Denise, Joseph Tamburello and his wife Leonilda and Angelo Tamburello, Jr. and his wife Jody. Angelo leaves behind 14 loving grandchildren and two loving great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home on Wednesday July 31 from 4 – 8 PM and again on Thursday morning, August 1st at 9 AM followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
