Assad Haikal age 91 of Brockton, died July 26, 2024 at South Shore Hospital surrounded by his family after a period of failing health. He was the devoted husband of the late Nadia (Khoury) Haikal. Assad was born and raised in Bsalim, Lebanon the son of the late Kiesar and Nabiha (Bou hadir) Haikal.
In 1971, Assad traveled to the United States to join his family living in Brockton. He became a chef by trade and owned the Phoenician Restaurant and the Grill in Brockton and cooked at Anthony’s Pier Four in Boston.
Assad was a longtime member of St. Theresa Maronite Church in Brockton. He will be remembered as a man who was passionate about gardening and cooking and was proud of his grandchildren.
Assad was the father of Maryann Daher and her husband George of Brockton, Theresa Audi and her husband Bassam of Raynham, George Haikal of Brockton and Ceasar Haikal of Brockton. He leaves 7 grandchildren Michel Daher, Gabriella Daher, Yacoub Audi, Aleen Audi, Bassam Audi Jr., Lucien Haikal and George Haikal Jr.
Assad was the brother of Azizi Metyni and the late Yamamie Matta, the late Haikal Haikal, Barbar Haikal, Youssef Haikal, Aziz Haikal and Nassif Haikal and the uncle of many.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday July 31, 2024 from 4-8 pm at the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. Brockton, MA 02301. Service of the Divine Mysteries will be celebrated Thursday at 10am at St. Theresa Maronite Church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
