Kay A. Hannon, 77, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, July 26, 2024, at her daughter’s residence in Valdosta, Georgia, surrounded by her family.
Memorial services will be held 2 PM, Monday, July 29, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Blane Jacobs officiating. Anne Nelms & Doreen Wilson will give eulogies. Interment will be private. The family will greet friends following the service.
Mrs. Hannon was born February 6, 1947, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Earl & Dorothy “Dot” Beggs Alligood. At an early age, her work ethic was formed by helping her father at Friedlander’s Department Store. She was a 1965 graduate of Fitzgerald High School where she played clarinet in the band and excelled as a majorette. She was the head majorette her senior year as well as a sub-deb. Mrs. Hannon worked for several dental and medical offices in the community. Her most rewarding work was that of being a stay-at-home Mom raising her children. She was passionate about cooking and baking. An avid reader, she especially enjoyed reading her Bible. She enjoyed gatherings with her family and friends, Christmas was her favorite holiday. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald. Our loss is Heaven’s gain.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Dru & Melissa Hannon of Fitzgerald; Jay Paulk of Fitzgerald, Lyn & Allen Brady of Lakemont, and Suzanne & Randy New of Valdosta; grandchildren: Austin Hannon, Brayden Hannon, Pressley Paulk, Ty Paulk, Marley Kayt Paulk, Chandler James, Conner James, Peyton Brady, Ann Brady, Landon New, and Brooklyn New; and a sister, Earlene & Larry Troupe of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Hannon.
