Loretta Mason, 81

Loretta (Chandler) Mason, age 81, of Mansfield, passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family on late Friday evening, July 26, 2024, following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Earl A. Mason,to whom she was wed on January 20, 1962. The couple were married for more than sixty-two years, and have two children, Andrew Mason, Sr of Moyock, North Carolina and Bonnie Mason of Boston.
Born in Boston, MA on December 21, 1942, she was a loving daughter of the late James Chandler of Watertown and Concetta (Bacchi) Bonafide of Everett.
A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, the Mason’s resided in Connecticut for thirty years, where Loretta had been very active in volunteer work at Connecticut Schools, youth sports, scouting and teaching quilting at their local Senior Center, and following their return to Mansfield, with the Mansfield Council on Aging and the Congregational Church of Mansfield.
During her mid-years in Connecticut, when Loretta was not working with Little League Baseball or youth hockey, she bowled with the Norwalk Women’s League, performing well enough to attend many National Championships at Cities all across America.
During her early years, Loretta enjoyed growing up in her very large Italian family in the areas surrounding Boston, and always felt very honored to have shared her “Godfather-in-common” with former heavyweight boxing champion, Rocky Marciano.
Aside from her loving husband and children, she leaves three grandchildren, Ian Mason of Sarasota, Florida, Andrew Mason, Jr with the United Sates Air Force, Nicole Mason of Virginia Beach, and a half-brother, Jeff Chandler of Florida.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, August 5th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 6th at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
