Obituary

Elsie L. (Roylance) Buess, 100, of Westport, peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Charley M. Buess.

Mrs. Buess was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Samuel and Doris E. (Wilcox) Roylance and had been a Westport resident the greater part of her life. She graduated from Westport High School Class of 1941. Prior to retirement, she was employed for 43 years as a bookkeeper for the Potter Funeral Home. She was a member of the Pacific Union Congregational Church in Westport. Past Matron of Cortez Allen Chapter O.E.S. No. 161 and served for 25 years as their treasurer. Member and Past President of Westport Women's Club. Member of the Westport Historical Society and American Legion Post #145 and D.A.V. Auxiliary of Westport and a life member of the Beta Sigma Sorority.

She is survived by her loving caregiver and niece Dawn E. (Almeida) Clarkson of Westport, her niece Sharon Almeida of Dartmouth and her nephew Antone Almeida III of Westport; along with several great nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Edith E. Almeida and Norman W. Roylance.

Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, July 29, 2024 at 10 A.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.

Calling hours Sunday from 1-3 P.M. with an Eastern Star Service at 2:00 P.M.

Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
