Doris Jane Smith Palmer, 86, of Tifton passed away Sunday, November 17, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2002, at Tifton's First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. David Uhl officiating. Mrs. Palmer was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Scott Palmer, Jeff Palmer, Rick Palmer, Herb Hendrix, Josh Hendrix and Brandon Goins served as pallbearers.
Born August 28, 1916, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mrs. Palmer was the daughter of the late George Smith and Lillian Douglas Smith. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Tifton's First Presbyterian Church. She had lived in Tifton since 1999.
Mrs. Palmer is survived by her husband, Carl V. Palmer of Tifton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Kathy Palmer of Wayne, Pennsylvania, Jeff and Rhonda Palmer of Dahlonega and Rick and Gaye Palmer of Douglasville; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Herb Hendrix of Tifton; ten grandchildren, Kelly Bowen, Josh Hendrix, Melissa Palmer, Jennifer Palmer, Blake Palmer, Katie Bennett, Brandon Goins, Adam Palmer, James Palmer and Cody Palmer; and six great-grandchildren.
