Obituary

Stanley A. Luchka, Jr., 85, of Chepachet, formerly of Johnston, passed away unexpectedly on July 23, 2024. He was the husband of Beverly A. (Burghardt) Luchka. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 12, 2024.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Stanley and Stella (Bielan) Luchka. He had lived in Chepachet, previously living in Johnston for 70 years.

Stanley retired from Davol, Inc. in 1997 where he worked as a designer draftsman. In addition to working at Davol, he ran Echo Valley Farm for the family for 70 years.

He enjoyed raising animals, especially his cows, and grew many crops including corn, melons, alfalfa and many others.

He was involved with Northern Rhode Island Small Farmers Association for many years, bringing fresh produce to farmers markets in Providence.

His love of farming led him to develop a close association with the Northern Rhode Island Conservation District and Natural Resources Conservation Service through USDA.

He was an avid hockey player beginning at Hope High School and continuing through to the old-timer’s league at Thayer Arena in Warwick.

He was an antique Oliver Tractor enthusiast, and his favorite was his Super 88 Diesel. He enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he leaves his beloved daughters: Brenda L. Frederickson and her husband, Howard and Katherine Luchka Zahansky and her husband, Mark. He is predeceased by his beloved son, Stanley A. Luchka, III.

He also leaves nine grandchildren: Kaitlyn Caluori, Brian Luchka, Joseph Frederickson, Alexander Frederickson, Kaylee Luchka, Sarah Luchka, Jacob Luchka, Kristina Wilcox, Nicholas Zahansky, and seven great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 11:30am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation will be Monday, 4-7pm.
