Obituary

Edith Hobbs Norman, 91, of Tifton passed away Thursday, November 28, 2002, at Tift Health Care. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Elder Buck Wood and Elder Kermit Nobels officiating. Mrs. Norman was laid to rest at Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton.

Bill Hall, Jerry Wade Hobbs, Harold Hobbs, Wayne Miller, Edgar Norman and Bud Willis served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the Rev. Charles Nichols, Tracey Norman, the Rev. Bill Allred, James Tawzer, Harmon Tawzer, Tommy Mullis, Danny Botton, Charles Bailey, Wright Marchant, H. C. Davis and Harmon Marchant.

Born May 4, 1911, in Worth County, Mrs. Norman was the daughter of the late Betty Daniels Hobbs and the Rev. Willie Hobbs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Norman, who passed away on August 8, 1988; one daughter, Joyce Hall, who passed away in October of 1993; five brothers; and three sisters. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church in Tifton. She had lived in Tifton for 56 years.

Mrs. Norman is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Linda Norman and Darrell Norman, all of Tifton; three daughters and four sons-in-law, Gyneth and Tyler Cox of Montgomery, Alabama, Carolyn and Coy Tawzer and Marily and Bill "Moose" Anderson, all of Tifton and Ronny Hall of Hilliard, Florida; one sister, Janet Crawley of Albany; 17 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
