Obituary

F. Aynur Sumer, a resident of Topsfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully, at her home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, July 22, 2024. She was 83 years old.

Born in Urfa, Turkiye, she was the beloved daughter of the late Huseyin and Saadet (Cizdaman) Sumer. She spent the last 26 years of her career as a Senior Economist at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., and prior to that, she worked as an economist for the Turkish government. In her spare time, she passionately followed Turkish politics and was a strong believer in a secular Turkiye and its founder, Ataturk. She will be dearly missed.

Uluatam and in-laws; Philip S. and Carolyn S. Hollman of Manchester, New Hampshire. Aynur was also the sister of the late Aydil and Ayhan Sumer.

Her funeral services will be privately held. Aynur’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, her friends consider donating to the Ataturk Society of America at www.ataturksociety.org.
