Obituary

MEREDITH ---- William ‘Tom’ Tobias, loving husband, father, uncle, brother, grandpa and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2024, surrounded by his family at The Birches at Concord.

Tom was born on June 28, 1942, in Sumter, SC, the son of Henry and Alberta (Watts) Tobias.

Tom served in the Army from 1961-1983, stationed in Germany, Ethiopia, Turkey and throughout the United States during his career. He graduated from college with an Associate Degree and went back to work for the Federal Government as a government subcontractor until his retirement in 2005.

Tom had a lifelong love of sports that included playing baseball and softball and then coaching his kids’ teams and cheering for his grandkid’s teams. When his playing days were over, he continued with a career in officiating sports of every level, including softball, volleyball and basketball. He was inducted into the USSSA Softball Hall of Fame as an umpire. He also enjoyed fishing, playing golf, solving puzzles and traveling, but his greatest happiness came from spending time with his family.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marion (Monahan) Tobias, son Stephen Tobias and his wife Casey of Spring Hill, FL, daughter Susan Bousquet and her husband John of Meredith, NH, four grandchildren, Alex, Briana, Katelyn and Ryan, and three great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Aria and Kendrick. He is also survived by brothers Jim Tobias of Richmond, VA and Fred
Tobias and his wife Barbara of Warrenton, VA, sisters Trisha Eifert and her husband Gary of San Diego, CA, and Kaye Bolin Tobias of Las Vegas, NV. Tom also leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Tom is predeceased by his brothers Henry Tobias and Robert Tobias.

A Calling Hour will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 3:00pm-4:00pm, in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH 03246.

A Service will follow at the funeral home.

A Graveside Service with military honors will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 10:00am, at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
