Wynelle Pitts Newell, 78, of Tifton passed away Monday, September 16, 2002, at Beverly Health Care in Tifton. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. George Parrish officiating. Mrs. Newell was laid to rest at Eldorado Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Newell's grandsons served as pallbearers.
Born March 23, 1924, in Worth County, Mrs. Newell was the daughter of the late Charlie Pitts and Beulah Nolan Pitts. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Preston Newell, who passed away in February of 1998. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Tifton Missionary Baptist Church. She had lived in Tift County all of her life.
Mrs. Newell is survived by three sons, Charles Newell and Bobby Newell, both of Tifton and Jimmy Newell of Irwinville; two daughters, Margie Garren and Wanda Draughon, both of Tifton; four brothers, Paul Pitts and Raydean Pitts, both of Tifton, Clayton Pitts of Jacksonville, Florida and James Pitts of Atlanta; four sisters, Gereline Coburn of Albany, Beverly Snodderly of Parsons, Tennessee, Rubynell Harper of Ellenton and Linda Smith of Dawson; eleven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
