Nora Kennedy Smith May, 81, of Tifton passed away Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Beverly Health Care in Tifton. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2002, at Tift Avenue Church of God with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Mrs. May was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. May's grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Mrs. May's friends, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Baldree, Mrs. Martha Bloodworth, Mr. and Murs. Julius Luke, Edd and Ottis Walker, and the member of her Sunday School Class at Tift Avenue Church of God.
Born September 24, 1920, in Worth County, Mrs. May was the daughter of the late Jack Kennedy and Mattie Bell Holt Kennedy. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Loren L. Smith, Sr.; her second husband, Wayland S. May; one daughter, Lorene Smith Walker; and six brothers. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Tift Avenue Church of God. She had lived in Tift County most of her life.
Mrs. May is survived by one son, Loren Smith, Jr. of Saint Augustine, Florida; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Vicki and Larry Bracewell, Juanita and John Goff, Gerri and Billy Selph, Joyce Ann Dillard, Sandra Powell and Hilda and Steve Bruce, all of Tifton; three step-children, Donnie May, Sarah Ann Wolfe and Linda May; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
