Obituary

James Franklin Mullis, 60, of Tifton passed away Friday, November 15, 2002, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Doug Gibson and the Rev. Ronny Vice officiating. Mr. Mullis was laid to rest at Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church.

Mr. Mullis' nephews, Robby Mullis, Chris Mullis, Eric Mullis, Bryan Mullis, Scott Dunn, Brent Dunn, Stephen Mullis, Devon cotto, Dammon Griffin, Jason Holyoak and Michael Masterson served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were H. C. Davis Jr., Bill Hall, Jimmie Norman. Jimmy McBrayer, Michael McBrayer, John Setters, the deacons of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Kelltown and the employees of the Market News Division of the Georgia Department of Agriculture.

Born June 11, 1942, in Tift County, Mr. Mullis was the son of the late Jacob Thomas Mullis and Eula B. Mathis Mullis. He was also preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Angie Mullis. He was a livestock specialist; a Christian; and he was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Kelltown. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam; and he had lived in Tift County all of his life.

Mr. Mullis is survived by his wife, Yvonne Hightower Mullis of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jana and Doug Douglas and Joy and Chad Davis, all of Tifton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy and Mary Mullis and Wayne and Joyce Mullis, all of Tifton; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sandra and C. B. Wood, Jr., Carol Demello and Kay and Ronnie Dunn, all of Tifton; and one granddaughter, Anna Grace Douglas of Tifton.
