Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Giacomo Tamburello of Wilmington, MA originally from Medford, MA of 41 years, who left us on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the age of 89. Giacomo was born and raised in Campobello Di Mazara, Sicily, Italy on July 2, 1935. He was the son of the late Vincenzo and Giacoma (Bono) Tamburello.

Giacomo was the loving husband of Maura (Scacciaferro) Tamburello for 62 years. Their life together was filled with joyous moments, shared dreams, and a partnership that was a true reflection of their love for one another. Giacomo was a devoted father to Enzo Tamburello and his wife Lisa of Saugus, Jacqueline Woodman and her husband John of Wilmington, and Rita Scalfani and her husband Michael of Wilmington. He was a loving Nonno (Grandfather) to Nicholas Tamburello, Krista Tamburello, Julia DiAdamo, Peter DiAdamo, Vincent Scalfani, and Sofia Scalfani.

Giacomo was a man with tremendous strength and determination. He was a hard worker, and astoryteller of his youth and family from Sicily. In his early years he served in the Italian military and eventually came to America in 1975. He worked at the European Restaurant in Boston’s North End as a cook and then worked many years at Walbar & Thermo Electron as a machinist building turbine blades for airplane engines.

Giacomo loved gardening, dancing, playing cards, taking walks, going out with friends, but most of all spending time with all his grandchildren. His love for his grandchildren was immeasurable, and his presence in their lives was a source of endless warmth and inspiration, with a heart full of wisdom and a spirit full of joy, he delighted in their laughter, celebrated their milestones and was a constant source of love and encouragement. His legacy will continue to shine through the memories he created with his family. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him.
