Wilbur “Wayne” Luke, 77, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, July 26, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Chuck Taylor officiating. Entombment will follow at 2 PM, with military honors, at The Magnolia Park Cemetery, 205 South Pleasant Hill Road, Warner Robins, Georgia, 31088. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Luke was born March 3, 1947, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late William Austin Luke, Jr. & Jessi Nora McEachern Luke. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, where he fought in Vietnam in the 25th Infantry Division and received two purple hearts. He later worked in Law enforcement from which he retired. He was loved by his community and friends.
He is survived by his children: Julie Luke Skillington and Michael John Luke; grandchildren: Chelsie Luke and Dustin Luke; a nephew, Alan Taylor and his best companion, Gail Ross. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Mattie Taylor and Shirley Hudson.
