Obituary






Charles E. ”Charlie” Thomson, 84, died Sunday July 23rd in the Brockton hospital , after a period of failing health; he was the husband of more than 60 years Edna (Trevains)Thomson of Whitman.

Born and brought up in Braintree, son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Gurney) Thomson. He attended Weymouth Trade School.

Charlie retired after 40 years with the Armstrong Industries in Braintree; he also worked at the fore river shipyard.

A resident of Whitman for 60 years, where he was a coach for Whitman Legion Baseball for many years, played Santa for local organizations and taught many little leagues baseball.

Charlie served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II.

He was a member of the Puritan Lodge of the Tri Town Mason, where he was active in the Shrines, Allepo, Tall Cedar and Commandery.


He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years Edna (Trevains)Thomson of Whitman ; his son and 2 daughters Charles E. Thomson , Jr., of Bridgewater, Stephen Laurie Medeiros of Whitman and Linda Anacki of Sandwich ;his sister, Marion Wilson of Quincy ; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Thursday July 27th at 10:00A.M. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman. Visiting hours Wednesday July26th 4-8 P.M Burial will follow in the Ma. V.A.National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:30 P.M.Donations may be made in his name to the Puritan Lodge, C/O Stanley Peterson 186 Franklin St., Whitman, Ma. 02382
