Obituary

John Allen Mann, Sr., 73, of Cordele, Georgia, died Saturday, July 20, 2024, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Sammy Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Mr. Mann was born May 15, 1951, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Marion W. Mann and Jacquelyn Robitzsch Mann Snowden. He was a graduate of Fitzgerald High School and earned a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech. He was an avid college football fan and a die-hard Republican. He had a long career in general contracting and construction. His fingerprints are on buildings across several college campuses including the University of Georgia, Valdosta State University, and Abilene Christian University in Texas. He also was responsible for building the Boeing Company Plant in Charleston, South Carolina. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Jones Mann of Cordele; children: John Allen Mann, Jr. of Tennessee, Jackquelyn Nichole Mann of Macon, and Gary Justin Mann of New York; granddaughter, Taylor Alana Mann; a special great-grandson, Ripley Jackson Clark; a sister, Linda & Charlie Gray of Hilton Head, South Carolina; a brother, Marion Mann of Fitzgerald; step-sister, Mary Jane Snowden White & Tom; two nieces and a nephew: Ava & Tim Montgomery, Brian Spicer & Casey Turpin, and Diana & Jacob Lee Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Frank Snowden.

Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, is in charge of arrangements.
