Melvin “Scott” Rupert, age 62, of Camarillo, California, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by love on July 9, 2024, after a battle with cancer. Born on May 8, 1962, Scott was blessed to have many roles father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, son and friend.
Scott is preceded in death by his wife Cindy, his father Robert, his son Shaun, and sister Terri Blackwell. He is survived by a long list of people who loved him, including, his sons Christopher and Troy, sister Paula Stewart, mother Mary Lou Volk, stepfather Lowell Volk, partner Coleen Grogan, granddaughter Skyler, grandson Shaun Jr. and great-grandson Brian along with many beloved family and friends.
Scott grew up in Corona, California, and attended Corona High School. Growing up he enjoyed riding bikes, skateboarding and weekend trips to local lakes and the river to waterski. He joined the Air Force and served most of his enlistment in Portugal. While in the Air Force he was trained as telecommunications systems/equipment maintenance specialist and went on to make a career for himself with the skills he learned in the military. He worked as a Supervisor for the City of Oxnard in the Wastewater department.
Scott was a compassionate person, honest and kind. If you knew him, you loved him. He was smart, passionate, genuine and had a great sense of humor. Scott loved football and was a huge Rams fan and watched every game on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays. He loved the ocean and he traveled to many of the world’s most beautiful destinations with his partner Coleen.
Your presence we miss, your memories we treasure. Loving you always, forgetting you never.
There will be a ceremony to spread his ashes in the ocean he loved with a reception following at a date and time to be determined.
