Linda J. Foley of Andover MA passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at her home. She was 58 years old, born on October 5, 1965, in Quincy MA, to Patricia (Nolan) and Thomas Foley.
Linda was a 1983 graduate of Holbrook High School, Holbrook MA, and a 1987 graduate of Simmons College, Boston MA. She was a Rotary International exchange student, spending her junior year of high school in Lohja, Finland, She was planning to visit Finland this July to attend a Bruce Springsteen concert in Helsinki.
Linda’s life truly evolved around her children and her steadfast companions, Peggy and Bear. She loved to travel and emerged herself into the local cultures and history. She loved the outdoors, music, attending musical theater and concerts, especially Broadway and Bruce Springsteen. She was very active in the autism community and promoting and preserving the history of her historical Jenkins home. Linda gave it all for anything she loved or supported.
Linda’s employer asked that everyone know, “Linda was the Director of R&D and Operations at Carl Zeiss SMT, Inc., in Danvers MA. She was a dear friend and colleague, a beloved member of the ZEISS family, and had a positive impact on the company and those she worked with. Her expertise and willingness to share knowledge, care for others on a personal level, and support the business were unparalleled and she will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing and working with her. We are deeply grateful for the time she spent with us.”
Linda is survived by her son Nolan Orpin of Methuen MA, and daughter Nora Orpin of Andover MA; her life truly revolved around them. She is also survived by siblings: Carolyn Millett and her husband John of Orleans MA; Stephen Foley and his wife Debra of East Freetown MA; Mark Foley and his partner Heather Lemoine of Holbrook MA; sister Susan McSheffrey of Attleboro, MA; aunt Judith Donahue of Worcester MA; aunt Mary Fontana her husband Joseph of Bridgewater MA; uncle John Foley and wife Carole of Keene, NH; and her lifelong friend Kristi and family of Olathe, KS, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews that she treasured. She was predeceased by her sons David of Wilmington MA, and Ethan Orpin of Farmington MA, and her parents Patricia Foley of Holbrook MA, and Thomas Foley of New Bedford MA.
Calling hours will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 1 to 3 PM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend.
