Roland B. Keene, Jr., age 85 of West Bridgewater, died unexpectedly at his home on July 14, 2024. Roland was the loving husband of the late Alma (Thompson) Keene for 54 years. Born in Whitman, he was the son of the late Roland B. and Marion (Brett) Keene, Sr. He moved to Brockton during his early childhood and attended Brockton Schools. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany.
For more than 25 years, Roland worked for Brockton Area Transit as an auto body technician and retired in 2011. He enjoyed tinkering and peddling, attending/running yard sales and flea markets and repairing watches. He was a collector of many things, including coins, baseball cards and miniature replica old cars.
Roland is survived by his children Russell G. Keene and his wife Kelly of Middleboro, Janet E. McGrail of Bridgewater, Mark D. Keene and his wife Tiffany of Bowie, TX and Jennifer A. Joyner of West Bridgewater, his grandchildren Matthew, Jessica, Dylan, Korissa, Kathleen, Patrick, Madison, Natalie, Chase, Gregory, Taylor and Rayne, many great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father-in-law of the late Douglas R. Joyner and brother of the late Beverly Faulknel, Eleanor Robbins, Barbara Schmidt, June Robbins, Donna Sigouin and Clyde Keene.
A celebration of life will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, on Saturday, August 3, from 11am-1pm. Friends and family are invited to join the family at the Matfield Woods Community Center, 9 Victorian Way in West Bridgewater, MA from 2-4pm.
