Julian A. Courson, 92, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, July 20, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Steve O’Neal and Randy McDuffie officiating. Interment will follow at 4:30 PM on Saturday in Camp Branch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Ware County, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Courson was born January 14, 1932, in Pierce County, Georgia, to the late Leon Junior Courson & Era Belle Griffis Sheppard. He was a truck driver for 43 years driving for himself as well as Lumber Transport. He also worked in HVAC. Mr. Courson was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching Westerns. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his children: Linda & Bob Youngblood of Fitzgerald, Billy & Kim Rodgers of Fitzgerald, Stanley Courson of Hilliard, Florida, Melinda & Steve Underhill of Starke, Florida, and Julian Alan Courson of Lawtey, Florida; grandchildren: Clint Putman, Natasha & John Chandler, Leah Courson, Shara & Johnny Russell, B.J. & Casey Rodgers, and Dallas & Beth Rodgers; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elvera Turner Courson; and a son, Adam LaRue “Rudy” Courson.
