Max Lee Benson, 82, of Anderson died July 16, 2024 at his residence after an extended illness.
Max was born, July 19, 1941 in Peru, the son of William E. and Helen (Pollitt) Benson.
He honorably served in the United States Army during Korea where he was a guard and Military Police. He was a Sergeant over detectives for the Anderson Police Department for 20 years before retiring in 1983. He also worked security in private industries. He attended Park Place Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Helvey) Benson whom he married June 25, 1988 in Anderson; four children, Darin (Tammy Strand) Benson of Fishers, Michael (Brigitte) Hollcraft of Greenwood, Michael (Jennifer) Gresley of Houston and Todd Alan Gresley of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Ian, Kate, Nathan and Rachel; siblings, Linda Benson Plybon, Brenda Benson Toney; brothers-in-law, David (Becky) Helvey and Drew Helvey; nephew, Kyle Pollock.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Michael.
Cremation took place.
