Obituary

PORTER- Steven Lester Hawkes, 54, of Porter, ME was brought home to be with the Lord in an unexpected accident on July 12, 2024.
He was born in Mtn Home Air Force Base, ID on June 2, 1970, to Lester and Sunantar (Keokumcheng) Hawkes.

He lived in ID till age 5 then moved to Acton, ME till age 10 then Moved to East Waterboro and Graduated Massabesic High School, Class 88. Went on to CT School of Electronics in New Haven, CT. Graduated Class 90. Married the love of his life, Sylvie Cayer in 1991.
He moved to Beacon Falls CT in1989, worked & learned the Carpentry & custom cabinets from his father-in-law @ Cayer Home Improvements.
In 1996, he moved his young family to Scottsdale, AZ for 5 yrs and worked for a commercial door company. In 2001, moved his family to Prescott Valley, AZ for 16yrs & worked at Ultimate Woodworking Custom Cabinets. IN 2010, went on as Maintenance Supervisor at Good Samaritan Health Center.
IN 2017, He and his wife Sylvie moved back to Maine. Where his heart has always been. He always called Maine ' A Little Piece of Heaven."
Upon moving here, he joined Dearborn Hunting in Fryeburg. Now as Maintenance Supervisor. He loved his job & everyone there. He made many great life friends there.

He just loved being with his family, campfires, frisbees with his boys, doing whatever his granddaughter wanted, Date nights & night walks with his wife, family Sunday night dinners, he loved teasing his daughter, haying & sawing with his son-in-law. He enjoyed learning anything new, helping anyone in need, anything outdoors, would smoke or grill anything, loved to bake his sourdough bread, learning about apple trees from Patrick, would do anything for his family, loved family movie nights, traveling with his wife to new areas of ME, and exploring new things.

Steve was a dedicated husband, father, pa-pa, son, brother, etc....
He always put his wife first, was so very proud of his family and loved them so much. He was a member & Elder of Kezar Falls Assembly of God. Enjoyed cooking for VBS, Sunday morning breakfasts and Community Day. He loved his church family as if we lived here a lifetime.
His extended family was always in his heart. His love for them was unspeakable. Steven touched so many hearts and lives from ME, CT, AZ and across the US. He was an inspiration to us all.

He is predeceased by his father Lester K Hawkes, 1998.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvie of 33 years. His daughter Lainey and her husband Dana Metcalf of Porter, his son Luc Hawkes of Porter, and hIs son Ethan Hawkes of Porter. His pride and joy, his superstar, Princess, Sweet Pea, his granddaughter Angelique.
Also is mother Sunantar Hawkes and brother Piya Hawkes, of Weathersfield, CT, sisters Sandra Hawkes of Scarborough and Pamela Hawkes of FL. His in-laws Celest and Celine Cayer of AZ, Brother in-laws and sisters in-law Wade and Lisa Crandell of AZ, Eric and Kathi Cayer of IL.
His nieces and nephews - Tonya of AZ, Britney and Brogan of AZ, Noah of CA, Jordan of CT, and Brock, Joshua, Amber, Megan, Samuel, Laurette and Sophie of IL. and a great nephew Braxton of AZ.

A memorial service will be on Saturday, July 27 at 10am at Kezar Falls Assembly of God, 213 Federal Rd, Parsonsfield, ME 04047. Arrangements are respectfully handled by Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at: www.mainefuneral.com.
