Helen McGee Marchant, 79, of Irwinville, Georgia, died Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Memorial services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, July 21, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Rex Johnson and Elder Barry Marshall officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Marchant was born August 10, 1944, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late G.W. & Ava Nell Fender McGee. She worked for the Federal State Inspection Service for 46 years inspecting peanuts. Mrs. Marchant was a hairdresser, a seamstress, enjoyed crafts, painting landscapes and animals, crocheting and flowers. Mrs. Marchant loved her grandchildren and family. She was a member of Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Wendell Marchant of Irwinville; two daughters: Sharon Poole & Neal of Fitzgerald and Wendy Paulk & Tony of Ocilla; grandchildren: Justin Poole & Kathy, Tyler Poole & Ashley, Nicki Lathrop, Mason Paulk, and Sarah Grace Paulk; great-grandchildren: Harli, Kaylie, Dixie Ray, Avery, Reid, Weston and M.K.; two sisters: Shirley Johnson and Rita Newell, both of Irwinville; and a cousin that was like a sister, Lavon Sapp of Irwinville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Wesley McGee and a sister, Geraldine Johnson.
