Mr. Norman Bailey, a longtime resident of Medford and beloved husband of the late Barbara E. (Nelson) Bailey, passed away at Artis Senior Living in Lexington on Tuesday morning, July 16, 2024. He was 100 years old.
Born in Everett, Massachusetts, on May 23, 1924, he was the beloved son of the late John and Maude (Holloway) Bailey. Norman was a WWII Army veteran, entering the military at Boston on June 18, 1943 and received his honorable discharge from Fort Devens on April 17, 1946. While serving in the military he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal of Germany for his exemplary service. In civilian life, Norman was an Electrical Technician. In his spare time, Norman enjoyed traveling. He also loved to sing and dance. Above all, he was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. Norman was the last surviving member of the John-Maude Bailey family.
He leaves behind Norman Jr. and wife Mary Armstrong of Las Cruces, NM; Howard and wife Mariana Zgripcea of Lexington, MA; Kendall of Medford MA and Stephen of Medford MA; as well as grandchildren Sergiu Troie and wife Huicong Zhang of Bethesda, MD and Darius Zgripcea Bailey of Boston, MA. He will be dearly missed.
His Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend.
