Domenico Ventresca passed away peacefully at Life Care Center of Stoneham on Sunday, July 14th. He was 93. Born and raised in Pettorano sul Gizio, Abruzzo, L’Aquila, Italy, he was the son of the late Francesco and Maria (Cassasanta) Ventresca.
Domenico came to the United States as a young man, living first in Boston’s North End before settling with his beloved wife Dolores in Medford. A hard working and kind man, Domenico was the proprietor, with his late cousin Donato Ventresca of Melrose, of the Great Northern Construction Company. Domenico enjoyed music and writing his own sheet music, while proudly playing his accordion back in his younger days. He especially enjoyed growing a large garden every year. He was devoted to his family and friends and will always be fondly remembered by those who knew him as he was a dear friend to all he met throughout his life.
The beloved husband of Dolores (Vetrano) Ventresca, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage, Domenico leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
Domenico’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford on Tuesday July 23rd at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Saint Clement Church, 64 Warner St., Medford at 10 AM. Services will conclude with entombment in St. Michael Cemetery, Roslindale. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home on Monday, July 22nd from 4 – 8 PM.
