Obituary




Anne E. (Goldsmith) Gillis, 85 of Worcester, peacefully passed away Monday, July 15th in Dodge Park Rest Home. Her husband, John Gillis predeceased her in 1982. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Thompson and her fiancé, Mark O'Neill of Worcester; five grandchildren, Kelly Chapman and her husband, Robert, Jill Thompson and her significant other, Robert Moreau, Heidi and Kevin Thompson and Ryan Thompson and his wife, Jennifer; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward J. Goldsmith and sister, Margaret Talman.

Anne was born in Worcester, the daughter of George E. and Esther A. (Turnan) Goldsmith; and was a graduate of the former Worcester Junior College. She retired from UMass Memorial Healthcare where she had worked as an accountant. Anne will be remembered for her love of Old Orchard Beach, her daily walks to Dunkin Donuts where she would enjoy her coffee and people watching, rooting for the Boston Red Sox and stock car racing. Her greatest joy was time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as her love for her cats. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her funeral is Thursday, July 18th at 11:30 a.m. in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Her visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
