Obituary

Agatina Martini, affectionately known by her friends and family as Tina, passed away on July 11, 2024 on her 99th birthday in her hometown of South Boston, MA. Born to Bernardo and Josephine Boni on July 11, 1925 in Supino, Italy, Tina was a cherished member of the Boni family, sister to Antonia (Sangillo) Boni, and the late Yolanda (Cappadona) Boni.
?
Tina spent her early years of her life with her family in Italy, where she immigrated to the United States by ship after the conclusion of World War II. On her voyage, she met the love of her life and future husband, the late Augusto Martini - a trip fondly remembered and referred to as “the love boat”.
?
Her first years in the United States were spent rejoining her family in Jersey City, NJ. She often told stories about her time working and enjoying New York City and taking ferry trips to Rockaway Beach and Coney Island on the weekends with her sisters and friends. After marrying Augusto, they relocated to South Boston, MA, where she resided for almost 70 years.
?
Tina’s love extended to her two sons, Daniel (Jennifer) Martini, and Robert (Joanne) Martini, who remember her as a loving, nurturing mother who always focused on faith, family, and education. She is survived by her seven grandchildren, Brittany, Ashley, Caroline, Rachel, Daniel, Rebecca and Luke, who carry fond memories of their beloved grandmother, and will continue her legacy of kindness and joy. Tina also welcomed thirteen great grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
?
In addition to her remarkable life, Tina will be remembered for her world renown cooking and love of music. For over five decades, Tina contributed her time and talent to the Music Ministry of her home parish, local dancing groups, the South Boston Senior Center, the South Boston Garden Club, and the Castle Island Association.
