Obituary

BELMONT ---- Raymond David Dumaresq, 81, formerly of Montvale, NJ, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at St. Francis Nursing Home, in Laconia, NH.

Ray was born on August 1, 1942, in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of Eugene and Margaret (Buchlein) Dumaresq.

He grew up in North Bergen and graduated from Cliffside Park High School where he met the love of his life, Mary Dumaresq (Prisendorf). The two married on October 3, 1964, in Palisades Park, NJ.

Ray was a member of the Army National Guard of New Jersey from 1963-1969, as an Armor Recon Specialist where he earned his Sharpshooter Rifle and Marksman badges. Ray took on the role as the Commander of the American Legion Post 153 in Park Ridge, NJ, where he also helped coach the baseball team. Ray followed in his father’s footsteps and became a member of the NYSE from 1969-1998.

As much as he loved the hustle and bustle of that life, his real love was the outdoors, whether it was hunting, 4-wheeling, fishing or snowmobiling, that is where you would find him most weekends with family and friends at his cabin in upstate NY. Ray and Mary also loved boating and spending time in Hutchinson Island, FL or an occasional trip to the Caribbean. He had a love for fun in the sun.

Ray was also an avid sports fan. He played semi-pro football with his brother in Hudson County where he was a standout defensive tackle and tight end. Ray also loved going to live sporting events or catching a baseball game on the TV. Ray had a personality that was larger than life and his family was his pride and joy.

He was known to many as “Big Boz”. He loved hosting friends and family at his home for a backyard BBQ, and his motto was “The more the merrier.”

Ray is survived by his wife Mary, their three children and their spouses, Peggy and Steve Carriero, Raymond and Suzanne Dumaresq and Christine and Michael Newton, seven grandchildren, Max, Haley, Kasey, Olivia, Brynn, Emmy and Jack, his beloved Pug, Mr. Bean, one brother Eugene and his wife Virginia Dumaresq, and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

A Graveside Service with military honors will be held at 11:00am, on Monday, August 5, 2024, at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303.
