Obituary

Lois Emma (Stehlik) Mitchell, 95, of Bellingham died peacefully July 9 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late John A. Mitchell.

Born in New York City, October 25, 1928, the daughter of the late Louis and Mildred (Tancredi) Stehlik, Lois married her husband John on June 4,1955 and raised their children Leslie and John Jr. in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Lois later spent time between Darien, Connecticut and Jupiter, Florida.

Lois attended Julia Richmond High School and Hunter College in New York.

She worked in the accounting department of several law firms before becoming a stay-at-home mother.

Lois traveled the world extensively and enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafts. She was an outgoing woman who loved her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Leslie and granddaughter Ainsley of Bellingham.

She was the mother of the late John A. Mitchell, Jr.

She is also survived by her twin sister Joanne (Stehlik) Carway of Cape Coral , Florida and her brother Richard Stehlik of Waynesboro, Virginia.

She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service and internment will be held in October 2024 at St. Mary’s Church and cemetery in Ridgefield, Connecticut.
