Obituary

Chuck Rando passed away peacefully at his home on July 10, 2024, surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of Dedham, Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Rando; his children, Kelly Goggin and Joe Goggin, his wife Kristin Goggin; and his beloved grandchildren, Joey and Jake. He was also a father figure to Amy Black, her husband Stephen Black, and grandfather to Abby and Jimmy Black, all of Dedham. Chuck is survived by his dear sisters, Ellen Conforti and Adele Kirsner, his sister-in-law, Elisa Rando, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Stephen Rando.

Chuck owned and operated his family business, Puritan Ice Cream in Roslindale. He also cherished spending time at his restaurant, Copper Kettle, and his ice cream shop, Chuckleberry’s, both down the Cape.

Active in the community, Chuck was known as Dedham Civic Pride’s “Go to Guy” and was a member of the Westwood Gun Club.

Chuck loved the outdoors, feeding birds, and eating tomatoes from his garden. His greatest joy came from being with his family, going on rides, and discovering new lunch spots. Chuck was larger than life, known for his generosity, kindness, and genuine willingness to help anyone and everyone.

Visitation will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham, on Monday, July 15, from 8:00 AM to 10:15 AM, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Dedham. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Friends of Dedham Civic Pride, P.O. Box 613, Dedham, MA 02026.
