Obituary

Justin-Trung Tan Tran, 36, of Worcester, died on Wednesday, July 10th at home surrounded by his loving family, after battling with cancer. He leaves his caring girlfriend of 9 years, Katie Lamothe of Worcester; his father, Thomas Tran and his wife, Minh of Worcester; his mother, Thoa (Do) Curtin and her partner, Craig Johnston of Barre; three brothers, Quang Do of Worcester, John Curtin of Paxton, and Damien Tran of Worcester; a sister, Lan Anderson and her husband, Mark of North Brookfield; and many nieces and nephews.
He was born in Worcester and worked at IPG Photonics for 7 years. Justin lived a life filled with passion and devotion, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He had an unbridled love for fast cars and loved the look of them. His Marvel collectables were a source of pride and joy, a testament to his playful spirit and admiration for superheroes. A dedicated gamer and movie aficionado, Justin had an extensive knowledge of films and video games, always eager to share his insights and engage in lively discussions. He was known as “Smiley” as his infectious smile and warm personality made him a beloved figure among friends and family alike. Justin was a major foodie, delighting in exploring new cuisines and flavors. He possessed a culinary curiosity that extended beyond mere enjoyment; he reveled in the experience of discovering and savoring different dishes. Above all, Justin was known for his unwavering reliability and his heart of gold. He devoted himself wholeheartedly to caring for his father and younger brother, embodying the essence of selflessness and familial love. His dedication to his loved ones extended to his girlfriend Katie, whom he adored with all his heart. She was his world, and their bond was a testament to his capacity for deep, genuine affection. Justin's sudden departure leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered for his kindness, his infectious laughter and smile, and the joy he brought to those around him.

His calling hours will be on Monday, July 15th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. His funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 16th from 8:00am until 8:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
