Kathleen Sullivan
Accountant & Pastoral Associate at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Lowell, MA

TEWKSBURY: Kathleen (Kane) Sullivan, age 66, a lifelong resident of Tewksbury and Andover, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of Barry J. Sullivan with whom she celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on 11/13/2023.

Born in Lowell on February 24, 1958, she was the daughter of the late John C. Kane and the late Mary Ann (Donovan) Kane of Tewksbury.

Kathleen attended the former St. William’s Church Parochial Grammar School, St. Stanislaus Church Parochial Grammar School, and graduated from the former Keith Hall High School in Lowell in 1976.

Following high school, she attended The University of Massachusetts Lowell where she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

In her younger years, Kathleen enjoyed figure skating with her parents and her two sisters on their homemade rink in Tewksbury and at the Janas Memorial Skating Rink in Lowell. She was a competitive ice dancer and a member of the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) where she earned a silver medal in ice dancing. Later, she married the love of her life and together they welcomed 4 children into the world, her greatest joy. When the kids were younger, she was a dedicated full-time stay-at-home mother which was a blessing to her and to her children. With great pride, she attended every baseball game, volleyball game, and dance competition. In her spare time, Kathleen enjoyed spending time at their family home on Lake Winnipesaukee. She loved boating and being surrounded by her family in the natural beauty of the Lakes Region. The Lake House was her happy place. She also loved her family vacations to Aruba and Disney. She was a devout Catholic, had wonderful faith, and served the church for the entirety of her life. In recent years, she was the dedicated accountant and pastoral associate at The Immaculate Conception Parish in Lowell, a position she loved. Despite her illness, she continued to dedicate herself and provide her services to the Church. She was also talented at knitting and sewing. She made many beautiful hats, gloves, and blankets for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. For many years, she also volunteered her time and talent by knitting hats and prayer shawls for the Helping Hands Ministry at St. Augustine Parish, Andover.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her 4 children. Christine DiBenedetto and her husband Peter (Casey) of Andover, Robert Sullivan of Tewksbury, John Sullivan and his wife Ashley (St. Laurent) of Rollinsford, NH and Shannon Rivera and her husband Gabriel of Tewksbury: her grandchildren, Andrew (AJ) DiBenedetto, Olivia Rivera, and Lukas Sullivan, two sisters, Karen Morrill and her husband Shaun and Margaret Morrill and her husband Timothy
Kathleen leaves many extended family members, her church family, and numerous friends.
She was predeceased by her parents John C. Kane and Mary A. (Donovan) Kane and her adored niece, Mary Catherine Morrill.

Calling hours are Monday, July 15th, from 3-7 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 144 East Merrimack Street, Lowell. Her funeral procession will begin on Tuesday, July 16th at 9 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 144 E. Merrimack St., Lowell. Services will conclude with interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
