Obituary

LACONIA ---- John Carlton Perkins, 82, of Laconia, NH and formerly of Venice, FL, died on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at home.

He was born on May 3, 1942, in Concord, NH, the son of Carlton B. Perkins and Helen (Dunlap) Perkins.

John graduated from Concord High School in 1960. He went to the University of NH and graduated with a B.S. degree from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics in 1964. He was a devoted member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.

He served in the US Army as a captain during the Vietnam War. In his service, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the National Defense Medal. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Madison Lodge 93 of Madison, NJ, and a member of the Valley of Trenton Scottish Right in Trenton, NJ.

John was a former member of the Board of Directors of NH YMCA Camp Belknap in Wolfeboro, NH. He also served on the board of Winter Harbor Yacht Club on Lake Winnipesaukee, the Gamma Theta Corporation for the ATO Fraternity UNH of Durham, NH and the Natures View HOA in Laconia, NH.

He retired in 2005 from American Honda Motor Company after holding several management positions. His senior levels included Regional Sales Manager of the Power Equipment Division and National Sales Manager of the Marine Division responsible for Honda Outboard Motors.

Throughout his life, John loved everything about the state of NH. He enjoyed Gunstock Mountain, skiing at Sunapee and sailing on Winnipesaukee. He always had a special place in his heart for Camp Belknap on the Big Lake. His greatest regret was living so far away from his grandkids.

John had many qualities that shaped his character. He was known to be logical, determined and protective, while he had a gentle, considerate and intuitive side. He had a passion for creative cooking and delighted his family and neighbors with delicious dishes. He was intelligent, wise, loyal, responsible, strong and humorous.

He is survived by his beloved wife Marilyn (Kidder) Perkins of Laconia, NH, three daughters, Martha (Morin) Bonnette of Payson, AZ, Heather W. Perkins of Austin, TX and Marjory (Perkins) Tribbett and her husband Matthew Tribbett of Kansas City, MO, son Garth Kidder Morin and his wife Lydia Jeffcoat of Dover, NH, one brother William D. Perkins and his wife Jane Perkins of Wolfeboro, NH, seven grandchildren, Michael Bonnette, Christa Weiss, Skyler Tarr, Ainsley Tarr, Hayden Tarr, Andrew Tribbett and Brendan Tribbett, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and two brothers-in-law Alan Kidder and Jason Kidder.

There will be no calling hours.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 11:00am-2:00pm, at The Conference Center at Blueberry Lane, 35 Blueberry Lane, Laconia, NH, officiated by Reverend Paula Gile, with light snacks to follow.

A private burial will be held at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery in Wolfeboro, NH.
