William Frederick Benner III, 63, of Whitman, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by his
family on July 4, 2024 at South Shore Hospital.
Born in Boston on August 3, 1960, the first son of the late William Benner Jr. and late Jeannette (Maloof) Benner. Billy grew up in Jamaica Plain, later moving to Savin Hill where he attended St. Mary’s in Brookline, graduating in 1978. Moving south of Boston in 1995, Billy, a member of the late Local 82 (now Local 25) Teamsters, raised a family of his own in Whitman, MA.
Billy was a drummer and singer in multiple bands including “PS Wild,” “Emerald City,” “Ferix” and “Rocks.” One of his musical highlights was writing and performing a theme song for missing children titled “Bring the Children Home.” Billy was a talented musician who never missed his chance to perform, you could often hear him singing his favorite tune of the day.
Billy loved spending time with his children and family, talking with friends over coffee and hanging out with his two dogs, Belle and Reese. He was an incredible father and loyal friend to all. He was always making people laugh with his quick wit and great sense of humor.
Billy is survived by wife Melissa (Jaime) Benner, and leaves behind his three children, Tyler Benner, Christina Benner, and David Benner. Brother of Cynthia (Benner) Relleva and Kevin Benner. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Billy is deeply loved and will be missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday, July 15 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, 666 Plymouth Street in Whitman. All are welcome to attend funeral services on Tuesday, July 16 at 12:15 at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, followed by a funeral Mass at 1:00 PM at the Holy Ghost Church, 518 Washington Street in Whitman. Burial to follow at Blue Hills Cemetery in Braintree, followed by a celebration at La Scala Ristorante in Randolph.
