Donnie James Blakley, 66, never woke up July 2, 2024. He was born on March 10, 1958 in Tahlequah, OK. He grew up in the Lower valley. After his time in the USMC, he returned to Prosser.
Donnie married Delayne in September, 1979. They welcomed a son Joshua James Blakley in May, 1980 and joyfully added a daughter, JaNae Marie Blakley in August, 1983.
Donnie worked at a fruit processing plant, Holtzinger and Zirkle for 40 years. Donnie could and would fix almost anything. This led him to repair the AC at the Fraternal Order of the Eagle’s. He joined the Eagle’s and served in many roles, earning Prosser’s first ever Mr. Eagle in 1999.
When diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, his son-in-law Nick, introduced him to the beauty of rocks. Donnie excitedly shared this hobby with many of his 13 grandchildren.
Donnie couldn’t hardly say “No” and was always ready to help. He didn’t talk much but when he did it was kind and true.
Donnie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Delayne; his son, Joshua J. Blakley (Rachel McCoy; daughter, JaNae Blakley (Nick Romero); thirteen grandchildren, MaryAnna, Diamond, Nicolas, Junior, Amelia, Lexie, Evan, Alexis, Vann, Mason, Cambrie, Destiny and Ivy; and 3 great-grandchildren, Michella, Mordecai, and Tyler, and two on the way.
