Obituary

DAYTON- Barbara Oakes Tripp, age 83, passed away at her home Friday July 5th, 2024, surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness. She was born in Portland to parents Roland and Marjorie Oakes, July 8th1940. She graduated from Biddeford High School in 1958 and went on to work as a preschool teacher at Childhood Hours Daycare. Barbara will always be remembered for her love of family and friends and her longtime commitment to the East Waterboro Free Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, Sunday school teacher and helped lead the social community for over 50 years. She also served as ballot clerk for many years in Dayton. She was predeceased by her son Scott Tripp, father and mother Roland and Marjorie Oakes, also her beloved husband of 59 years Norman Tripp. She is survived by her children - Craig Tripp and his wife Debbie of Dayton and Tamara Tripp of Saco, her brother Bill and his wife Kathy of FL; grandchildren- Josh Tripp of Rockport, and Shannon Schwartz and her husband Ryan of Biddeford; great grandchildren Sophia, Mason, Faith, Addison, Conor and Chloe and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 20th from 10-11 AM, followed by a 11am service at Free Baptist Church of East Waterboro, 213 Main Street (Rt 202) East Waterboro.
