Peter A. Clapp, 78

Dateline: Norton, MA

Peter A. Clapp, age 78, of Norton, formerly of Bridgewater, a retired Firefighter for the Town of Randolph, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully at home on Sunday, July 7, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth G. (Heger) Clapp, to whom he was wed for fifty-four years.

Born in Saint Johnsbury, Vermont on July 12, 1945, he was a loving son of the late Natalie R. (Hall) Clapp and the Donald K. Clapp.

Pete grew up in his hometown of Randolph. He graduated from Randolph High School in 1964 and received his certification as a television repairman. Prior to retiring, Peter had proudly worked keeping the community safe as a Firefighter for twenty-two years for the Town of Randolph. Pete also spent much of his working career involved in the construction industry.

A resident of Norton for the past two years, Pete was a former longtime resident of Bridgewater. His family was the essence of his life and the delight he felt being with his grandchildren was second-to-none. Pete’s memberships included the Massachusetts Firefighters Association, was a lifetime member of the Randolph Lodge of Elks and a member of the Old Colony Sportsmen’s Association.

Pete loved attending racing events at New England Speedway in Epping, New Hampshire and vacationing, especially in the North Country, memorable hobbies he shared with his adoring family. He also enjoyed fishing and will always be remembered for his love and kindness towards animals.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by bis devoted children, Justin P. Clapp and his wife Kristin of Middleborough, Craig A. Clapp and his wife Linda of Middleborough and Sarah E. Nuttall of Mansfield. He was the cherished grandfather of Matthew Clapp of Middleboro, Charlotte Nuttall of Norton, Calvin Nuttall of Norton and Ellery Nuttall of Norton. He was the dear brother of Robert Clapp and his wife Kathy of Florida, John “Steve” Clapp and his wife Kathy of Randolph, Norman Clapp and his wife Kathy of New Hampshire, Alan Clapp and his wife Kathy of Mashpee and the late Donald Clapp, who is survived by his wife Dorothy Clapp of Randolph. He is also survived by his much-loved nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, July 12th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton. Burial will be private.
