Gorham- Donna Rae Ricker, age 70, passed away on July 3, 2024, at Gosnell Memorial
Hospice House following a long illness. She was born in Skowhegan, Maine on December
7, 1953 to John and Jacqueline (Wing) Ricker. After graduating from Falmouth High
School, Donna completed a Dental Assistant program in Boston.
Donna was skilled in customer service. Whether at McDonalds in Falmouth, LLBean,
Unum, or Anthem, she was always a team player and dedicated worker. She coached
softball and ice hockey, was a certified hockey official, and a statistician for the original
Maine Mariners. She volunteered her time and skills to researching the Ricker
Genealogy, and to various organizations including the AIDS Memorial Quilt, Durham
Historical Society, and Alcoholics Anonymous. She was just weeks shy of 39 years of
sobriety.
Donna enjoyed reading, photography, writing, playing cribbage, and spending time with
family. She is predeceased by her mother Jacqueline (Wing) Ricker, brothers John
Ricker, Jr and Brian Ricker, and her sister Sandra Burrows.
She is survived by her partner of 34 years, Patricia C. Joyce of Portland, her father John
Ricker, Sr of Stratton, her sister Kathy Afsary of Las Vegas, nieces Jacqueline, Lindsay,
Debra, Lydia, and Ashley, nephews Justin, and Jake, great-nephew Bradley and great-
nieces Gabby and Cassie.
The family would like to thank staff at Cape Memory Care and Hospice of Southern
Maine for the exceptional care they gave to Donna.
