Obituary

Vicki Dean Brewer, born on July 14, 1947, in LaGrange, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024, at home with her family by her side, listening to some of her favorite music.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Born to Virginia Smith Gentry and Claude Gentry, Vicki is survived by her devoted husband, Phil Brewer, whom she married on May 4, 1986. She leaves behind her children Michael (Lajeana) Brooks, Vicky (Gary) White, and Lisa (Alan) Watkins; her grandchildren Christy Thrower, Jessica Chapman, Jessa Brooks Griffin, Holly Brooks Scruggs, Brittney Dittman, Josh Brooks, Chassity Brooks, Cameron Brooks and Brandy Thompson; eight beloved great-grandchildren; and two sisters Linda (Emil) Rekasi and Tracy (Mike) Clark. Vicki was preceded in death by her son, Hilton Brooks Jr.; her parents, Virginia Smith Gentry and Claude Gentry; and a brother, Mark Higgins.

Vicki dedicated 27 years of her life as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Dorminy Medical Center, where she was deeply cherished by her coworkers and known for her love of coffee. Her passion for helping people was evident in the exceptional care she provided to all her patients, always going above and beyond to ensure they felt cared for and comfortable. She greeted everyone, friend or stranger, with a big smile, a cheerful hello, and a warm hug.

Her greatest pride was her role as Nana. To her, family extended beyond bloodlines; everyone who visited with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren quickly became part of her family and gained a loving Nana. Known for always having a hidden stash of chocolate for them, she created a warm and welcoming environment for all.

In her retirement, Vicki cherished the simple joys of life: sitting on the porch watching the cows across the road and gathering with family and friends. If you ever drove by her residence on McCrimmon Road, you would undoubtedly see her on the front porch, giving you a big wave and a bright smile.

Vicki Dean Brewer’s legacy of love, care, and warmth will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
