Obituary

Carol A. Scanlon, 84, of Auburn, Mass. passed away on July 5, 2024.

Carol was born in Worcester, Mass. in November of 1939, the daughter of Thomas and Olga (Johnson) O’Loughlin. She attended Gates Lane, and Woodland Prep, before moving to Auburn, and graduating from Auburn High School in 1957.

She worked as a secretary at an area factory, before marrying in 1959. She then became a mother and stay at home wife. She was a member of Highland St Lutheran church, and later Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active in the choir and many women’s groups over the years. Carol and Fred both enjoyed flea marketing and antiques, and were active in that scene for years.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Norman O’Loughlin and his wife Carol, her nephews Tom and Billy O’Loughlin, her brothers in law’s Domenic, John, and Paul Scanlon, her brother in law William Horgan, and her niece Mary Horgan. Carol is survived by her husband of 65 years, Fred A Scanlon, her children Mark Scanlon, and his wife Candy, Todd Scanlon, Lori Bradshaw, Neal Scanlon and his wife Teri, and her only grandchild Kylee Church and her husband Joshua Church.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday July 11, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester MA 01605. A funeral service will be held on Friday July 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church 73 Lancaster St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
